In addition to managing the buildings and its own activities, Woodend Barn acts as the hub of a network which involves a number of independent groups interested in the arts, culture and/or community involvement. This enables us to engage many skilled enthusiasts (mostly volunteers) in developing and delivering our programme.

The affiliates include:

  • Folk Sessions take place every last Friday of the month at Crathes Hall.
  • The Lang Byre Gallery arranges art exhibitions and workshops.
  • Sideline Multi Arts (SMA) organises multi-arts events involving people of all ages.
  • sound organises an annual festival of new music involving venues across Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City.
  • Third Stage organises weekly arts events for older people in the Woodend Barn.
  • Woodend Allotments operates two fields of allotment gardens in fields behind the Woodend Barn.
  • Woodend Music Society (WMS) organises a number of classical music concerts and workshops each year and commissions new works.
  • Woodend Publishing publishes pamphlets and art books.

Buchanans Bistro has been open at Woodend Barn since 2010 offering a range of good food and refreshments every day of the week. Woodend Barn is also home to GANE (Growing Audiences North East) and NEAT (North East Arts Touring). Both these organisations support arts and culture across the North East of Scotland.
