Woodend Barn is run by a number of paid staff, supported by a team of volunteers and a wholly voluntary board.

The staff are:

Nicola Henderson

Director

Helen Smith

PHD Student

Clare Martin
Accounts

Clare works roughly 16 hours a week, being mostly Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Between that, she fits in being mum to Heather and Jenny, hill-running, leading of a Girlguiding Ranger unit, playing bridge, coaching orienteering and taking care of her Woodend allotment.

David Officer
Administrator

David was the Barn’s first full-time member of staff, he is generally found in the office or his natural habitat of the Wildlife Garden, where he enjoys eating his lunch in the sun and watching the birds and beasties. When not helping to keep the Barn office running smoothly, David is a photographer (www.davidofficerphotography.co.uk) - sometime musician and a keen blogger (http://daemonsmusic.tumblr.com/).

Cara Pirie
Education and Outreach Officer

James Black
Audience Development Officer

Neil Scott
Caretaker

Sam Thom
Digital Media Coordinator

Sam is a journalist by trade and produces the Barn's audio podcasts from a small office in his home in Aberdeen. The job is part-time, but he visits the Barn to film events and train staff in the techniques of video production. He says, "I really enjoy making audio and video. I get to interview musicians, comedians, actors and dancers! Combine that with social media and it's the perfect job for me."

Susan Whyte
Programming Manager

Susan works around 25 hours a week for WAL. When she’s not working at the Barn office or fronting events, Susan can be found running in circles after her three children and husband, talking to her dogs, cats and hens (nobody else at home listens!) and occasionally gazing out of the window thinking of all the things she’d like to be doing but never gets around to.
